Google Stadia will now launch 22 games instead of 12

Popular cloud gaming system Google Stadia is all slated to launch on November 19. Sometime during the previous week, Google had stated that the gaming system would be bringing along with it 12 games on day one. However, now it has again confirmed that it would be providing 10 additional games, apart from the earlier stated ones. This would mean Google Stadia would bring along with it 22 games, almost close to double the quantity of what was promised earlier. 

Google Stadia, apparently, had received criticism in the past for not keeping its word by not providing games and features as it had promised. However, it looks like all the criticism will soon vanish as it is providing more games than what was stated earlier. Google Stadia’s boss Phil Harrison has tweeted saying that he is thankful to all the people who were involved in rigorous testing of the game applications. Harrison credited their efforts without which this additional feat would not have been possible. 

Google Stadia’s games that are arriving on day one

Google Stadia had earlier promised that it would launch the following games on its opening day:

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Destiny 2- The battle (This is available in Stadia Pro)
  • Gylt
  • Just Dance 2020
  • Line
  • Mortal Combat 11
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Samurai Showdown (This is available in Stadia Pro)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  • Thumper
  • Tomb Raider 2013

Now, along with the games stated above, Google Stadia will launch the following additional games:

  • Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2
  • Farming Simulator 2019
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Football Manager 2020
  • Grid 2019
  • Metro Exodus
  • NBA 2K20
  • Rage 2
  • Trials Rising
  • Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Apparently, the additional games stated above were being planned for a release sometime later in 2019, however, thanks to the lovely efforts undertaken by the concerned people, these games would be coming on board on day one itself.

Also, Samurai Showdown will not hold any charges during its launch for Stadia Pro subscribers. In the past, Destiny 2 game was the only one to come free of cost for those who had subscribed to Stadia Pro. 

Usually, people who need to enjoy playing Stadia games need to buy the same with a subscription fee of $10 every month for Stadia Pro. With this, a higher 4K resolution can be obtained along with HDR support. 

Future games to be released by Google Stadia

The games which have been stated above would launch on the first day. However, additionally, Stadia has planned to release a few more games before 2019 ends. They are the ones stated below:

  • Borderlands 3
  • Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
  • Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2
  • Darksiders Genesis

From the above, Borderlands and Ghost Recon were initially planned for a 2020 release, however; even they would be available in 2019 itself. 

Darksiders Genesis is slated to launch on December 5. This is the same day when its PC version would be launched. This would remain exclusive to Stadia for around 3 months. On February 14 2020, this game is likely to appear on PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

The initial launch may have a few glitches here and there; however, one can expect improvements and additional features over time.
